Heading into tonight’s action, Thunderbirds rookie net minder Mario Culina was recently named one of this week’s NOJHL Eastlink TV 3 stars of the week and coming off a 3-2 overtime victory over the Wildcats on Friday, November 21st at Centennial Arena. Culina, who recorded the only victory for Team NOJHL at the Central Canada Cup Challenge vs CCHL Robinson was hoping to make it back to back wins vs the Wildcats and was entering his fourth straight start between the pipes leading the league in wins (10), save percentage (931) & goals against (2.09) heading into tonight’s action.
Matt Stefano caught up with third star of game on what he had to say following a 3-0 setback ending the T-Birds eighteen game unbeaten streak.
Matt: Describe your thoughts on the game tonight?
Mario: I thought we got outworked especially in our own zone.
Matt: How do you plan to regroup?
Mario: Start off fresh tomorrow in practice and build off the positives from the game.
Matt: How did it feel returning home tonight after a lengthy road trip?
Mario: It felt really good because we had a good run especially against some of the good teams.
Matt: Describe your time with Team NOJHL?
Mario: It was fun and I thought we played really good especially in a short span of time.
