On the 12th of November 2014 officers with the Crime Suppression, Emergency Services and the Canine Unit executed a search warrant on a residence in the downtown area of the City.
Located during the search of the residence was a sawed off single shot shotgun. A 17yrs old male youth was charged with numerous firearm offences including: Careless storage of a firearm, weapon and ammunition, unauthorized possession of a weapon, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon obtained by crime.
Further investigation into the firearm seized revealed the shotgun was stolen from a break and enter from a residence in the 900 block of North Street back on the 16th of December 2012.
The accused will appear in Youth Court on the 16th of December 2014.
