West Victorious over East in Boys Sr Basketball

The first teams to hit the court in the East West game in Boys Sr Basketball were the St. Mary’s Knights for the West and the White Pines Wolverines representing the East.

It would take almost 4 minutes for a team to sink a basket and that prize went to St. Mary’s, but both teams had equal opportunities and at the end of the first quarter would see the West leading the East by a score of 7 to 5. By the end of the 2nd quarter White Pines would be leading St. Mary’s by 3 points with the score East – 18, West – 15.

The top point getters for White Pines were Darian Farkas with 6 points with Matt Gregoire and Austin McGonegal having 3 ponts a piece. For St. Mary’s Dexter Holden had 5 points.

For the next part of the East West game St. Basils Saints took over for White Pines to continue the battle against the Knights and at the end of the this quarter the lead still belonged to the East with 29 and the West with 24 points. Knights Dexter Holden would add to his point count with 5 more points and Ty White would account for 4 points. Austin Nash had 8 points with Dalton Toppan and Matt Gregochuk counted 3 points each for St. Basils.

The Korah Colts replaced the Knights for the West and continued the battle against the Saints. This quarter of the game seen the Colts battle back for the West to get the lead back from the East with the score of West – 45, East – 44.

Korah’s Sam Ivey added 10 points while Andrew Richards had 5 points while St Basils Noah Creedon was the top point getter with 8 points.

Superior Heights SteelHawks took over for the St. Basils Saints to continue the East West battle. By the end of the the first quarter between these two teams the West was still leading the East by a score of 66 to 60.

In the final quarter of the contest between the East and the West Korah took control over the SteelHawks with the final score of the match being West – 85 and the East with 77.

Top point getters saw Sam Ivey add to his tally with 13 more points while Anthony Ivey had 5 points for the Colts. SteelHawks Justin Sharp had 9 points while Lars Moffat had 7 points.

The regular season for Boys Jr and Sr Basketball will start on Thursday and this coming weekend, Friday and Saturday, is the Eric Nystedt Jr & Sr Tournament.
