Christmas is one week away but forecasters warn of one big mess of a storm brewing just in time for Christmas, ensuring very much a white Christmas in the Sault – along with some rain and strong winds.
Holiday travellers are being warned of delays at airports and dangerous driving conditions beginning Tuesday but the brunt of the storm that will affect the central part of the continent.
American weather service, AccuWeather.com puts Sault Ste. Marie in the bull’s eye of a snow storm while southern Ontario will deal with potential flooding rains and thunderstorms. Other parts could see flash freezes and freezing rain.
The fun doesn’t stop on Christmas Eve, if the storm tracks the way forecasters say it will, get ready for heavy lake effect snow and snow squalls possible for Christmas Day. Forecasters say travel will be difficult from Northern Ontario down to Florida as the storm system pushes to the Atlantic.
