Coupons Are Bogus

scam-alert

On the 4th of December the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a complaint from a local restaurant advising coupons are being purchased by residents of the city, however, the coupons are bogus.

Quattro Chop House has had several seniors attend and present coupons indicating a discount on two lunch entrees. The coupon books are from someone going door to door and include the wording “Saving Booklet” with a phone number and expiry date of November 2014.

Please see the attached photo for a sample of the coupons being presented.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to speak to you if you have purchased one of the booklets. Please contact the Fraud Unit at 705-949-6300 ext 170.

The management of Quattro does indeed have gift certificates that they sell at the restaurant itself which are legitimate.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Fraud Unit would like to remind consumers to be careful when making purchases. Know the people you are purchasing local discount booklets from. If you are unsure if a business is indeed involved in a booklet campaign, don’t be afraid to contact the business before making the purchase.
There are many legitimate coupon purchase books circulated locally.
