CTV Northern Ontario, owned by Bell Media cut jobs in its Northern Ontario stations including Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday following 80 positions being eliminated two weeks ago at it’s Toronto facilities.

SaultOnline.com has learned that a secretary and news cameraman was let go Tuesday along with a technician in Timmins and News Executive Producer, Mark Oldfield in Sudbury. Long time news man and news director Don Chapman retired last week. No other “on-air” staff were cut according to sources. Long time Entertainment report and Sault Ste. Marie native Tanya Kim was let go in the last round of cuts in Toronto.

Two weeks ago representatives from the Sudbury hub told the Sudbury Star that no cuts were expected in its Northern Ontario operations. “There’s no way they would be able to keep up. It would be so surprising.”

Bell Media owns the CTV Television Network as well as secondary network CTV2 and several cable channels.
