The final games of Round 1 were played in the High School Curling League on Thursday.
In the boys division, Team Servant representing Superior Heights (Skip Nick Servant, Vice Jake Glibota, Second Michael Masters, Lead James Mesich) defeated Team Moore also from Superior Heights by a score of 10-1. Team Servant finished Round 1 undefeated with a record of 7-0.
Also in the boys division, Team Acorn representing White Pines, finished Round 1 in second place with a record of 6-1. In Thursday’s game Acorn came back from a 5-1 deficit to defeat Team Lemieux of St. Mary’s by a final score of 7-5. Team Lemieux tied for 3rd place with Team McClelland from Korah with both teams finishing with records of 4-3.
In the girls division, Team Rutledge representing Superior Heights (Skip Katie Rutledge, with Emma McLean, Lauren Rogers and Allie Lucente) defeated Team Simbirski from Korah by a score of 8-4. In Thursday’s action Emma McLean substituted in the position of skip and scored 4 in the fifth end to seal the win. Team Rutledge finished Round 1 in first place with a record of 5-1 followed by Team Simbirski of Korah with a record of 4-2.
The curling teams will be back on the ice at Soo Curlers to start Round 2 on January 6th.
