The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) elected a new Chair and Vice-Chair at its monthly meeting held last evening at the Catholic Education Centre in Sault Ste. Marie.
Leslie Cassidy-Amadio was acclaimed to the Chair position while John Caupto was voted in to the Vice-Chair position. Cassidy-Amadio served as the Board’s Vice-Chair for the past two years.
“I am honoured, absolutely honoured that my peers have put the trust in me to hold this position. Going from Vice-Chair to Chair, I’m excited going forward. Past Chair Lindsay Liske was great to work with over the past two years. He kept me in the loop and I served on a number of committees during that time so I’ve gained valuable experience as a trustee. I know it’s going to be more work as Chair, but I am familiar with what is expected from me in my new role,” said Cassidy-Amadio.
Caputo is a long-time Trustee having been first elected in 1998 when the HSCDSB was formed.
“I appreciate the confidence my fellow trustees have shown me by electing me as Vice-Chair. We have a very cohesive board and we’re a good example for other boards across the province,” said Caputo.
Cassidy-Amadio will give her inaugural address as Chair at the Board’s next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, 2015.
