After beating the Marquette Electricians 11-0 in game 1 on Friday, the Soo Thunderbirds Midgets took two more games vs the same team at this weekend’s NMU Showcase in Marquette, Michigan.
On Saturday, the T-Birds offence continued to click as they grabbed game 2 with a 10-3 victory over the Marquette Electricians to take a 2-0 series lead. After scoring twice and assisting on three others in the first game on Friday, it would be Brad Thrower leading the way once again with his second straight five point game with a hat trick and a pair of assists. Jason Bednarski had another multi goal game scoring twice to give him four goals and an assist in the showcase while Zach Flesher picked up the win in goal for the Soo.
In Sunday morning’s third and final game of the NMU Showcase, the T-Birds swept the Marquette Electricians in three straight with another double digit game defeating them 12-2. Lucas Miller led the way with a hat trick and a helper while Matt MacKay had a pair of goals and an assist along with Brendan Gillis who also scored twice. Zach Senecal had a three point effort assisting on three goals while the win in net was split by goaltenders Joey Roberts and Zach Flesher as Roberts let in both goals on the morning.
The Thunderbirds have out scored Marquette 33-5 on the weekend and will return home on Saturday, December 13th at 1:30 and 7:30 when they take on the Michigan Nationals from the John Rhodes Community Centre.
