Algoma District School Board (ADSB) students this week took part in the First Annual Charity Classic on December 16th and 18th at the Essar Centre.   Local ADSB hockey teams competed and students from their respective high schools and 7/8 intermediate programs gained admission to the game simply by donating a canned food item.

Between Korah and Superior Heights over 2000 cans of items were collected.  There were approximately 1700 students at the first Charity Classic Hockey game on Tuesday (between Korah and SHCVS).

Today, team members from both schools loaded up the ADSB Plant Department van with boxes of canned food items and brought them to the Soup Kitchen/Food Bank.

White Pines and CASS collected equally large amounts of canned goods.  White Pines also donated to the SSM Food Bank while cans from CASS will benefit the local food banks in Thessalon, Echo Bay, St. Joseph Island and Bruce Mines.

Algoma District School Board is very proud of the efforts of all these students, staff and parents who gave so generously to make such substantial donations for such a worthwhile cause.
