In their first home game of the New Year, the Greyhounds welcomed Ottawa to the Essar Centre.
The Greyhounds came out with quite a bit of pressure to start the first period off with a number of scoring chances in the first half of the period by Goetz and Salinitri.
Ottawa, however, would get on the scoreboard first with a power play goal by Salituro who put a rifle shot behind Raaymakers. The Soo would bounce back with Moore turning on the jets to get behind the defence and tie the game at 1.

With a number of Greyhounds buzzing around the net Senyshyn would give the Greyhounds the lead and at the end of the first period the score was 2-1 in favor of the Soo Greyhounds.

The second period seen the Greyhounds add 3 more goals to their tally with the first being from David Miller. Ottawa and the Soo would trade good scoring chances but Jean Dupuy would weave around to get a scoring chance on the 67’s netminder Semiao and on the rebound Goetz would increase the Hounds lead by 3.
Charley Graaskamp would add another goal before the end of the second period to close the period with Greyhounds leading the 67’s 5 to 1.
Kyle Jenkins would score a power play goal early in the third period but Ottawa would come back with a pair by Nathan Todd and Connor Graham in the middle of the period to pull within 3 goals.

Gabe Guertler would score a power play goal late in the period to give the Soo Greyhounds a final score of 7 to 3 over the Ottawa 67s.
The Greyhounds will face off against the Oshawa Generals at 2:07 Sunday.
The Generals are the league leaders with a 29-5-1-0 record for 59 points while the Greyhounds are third overall with a 27-8-0-2 record with 56 points and will prove to be a very interesting match-up.
