Heavy Snow Squall Action North of the Sault

0

Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.

Lake effect snow bands from Lake Superior are affecting Superior East as expected and will continue to shift north towards the Wawa region as winds off the Lake become more southwesterly. Snowfall amounts of 15 cm in 12 hours are expected under the strongest snow squalls along with low to nil visibilty in heavy snow and blowing snow.

The snow squalls are forecast to move south of the district tonight in the wake of yet another arctic cold front coming down from the northwest.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably, changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Road closures are possible.
