Ottawa police arrest man after hotel evacuation

OTTAWA – Ottawa police say they have a man in custody following the evacuation of a hotel in the city’s east end.

The evacuation at the Chimo Hotel came after police reported a possible threat by a “suspicious male.”

The investigation began at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday and a perimeter was established around the hotel while guests were evacuated.

It was not clear how many people were staying at the hotel.

Police closed surrounding streets and were asking the public to avoid the area.
