In transaction news today, the Soo Thunderbirds have acquired forward Devin Shell from the GOJHL’s Cambridge Winter Hawks in exchange for player development fee. The nineteen year old Saulite played the last two seasons with Cambridge scoring thirteen goals and thirty six points through seventy four games along with forty nine penalty minutes.
Shell, who stands 6’0 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds was also a member of the GNML’s Soo North Stars AAA (Now Soo Thunderbirds AAA), winning back to back league championships with them in 2012 and 2013 along with suiting up for a pair of games with the NOJHL’s Soo Thunderbirds back in 2011-2012. During the last season in Cambridge, Devin was also a teammate with Soo Thunderbirds forward Matt Pinder as they also played together for the North Stars.
Devin will be reunited with his fellow Soo North Stars teammates Brian Kment, Brandon Grandinetti, Jaren Bellini, Nathan Hebert, Joey Miller, Matt Pinder and Matt Mitchell.
The Thunderbirds are in action tonight at 7:30 to take on the Sudbury Nickel Barons from the John Rhodes Community Centre.
