Unexpectedly at home on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the age of 79.
Loving husband of the late Sirkka. Proud father of Helena Steer (Peter) of Oakville, Liisa Corpe (Bruce) and Leena Taivainen. Adoring Ukki of Simon and David Steer. Dear brother of Raili and Mauri and predeceased by Raimo all of Finland. Special cousin of Matti (Liisa). Brother-in-law of the late Erkki Haapalainen and Markku Haapalainen (Dorothy). Also fondly remembered by Gavin, Patti, Maija and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Finland.
Jorma was the Chair of the Finnish War Veterans and was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors.
In keeping with Jorma’s wishes, no public services will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or the Ontario Finnish Resthome Uusi Koti would be greatly appreciated.
