Sault Ste Marie Police Services

On Thursday January 1 at 12:29 police attended a residence on Wellington Street East after receiving a complaint from a female that a sentenced prisoner at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre was breaching conditions of his probation by contacting her.

The victim had received 12 written letters mailed to her from her former boyfriend, convicted for domestic violence against her, dated between OCT 2014 and most recent December 24, 2014.

The accused was convicted of Assault/Breach Probation/Mischief and sentenced to one year probation with a condition not to communicate with the victim. He also was convicted of contacting that victim in Dec 2014. As a result of the investigation he has been charged with an additional 15 counts of breach of probation and will appear in bail court this morning.
