UPDATE JANUARY 2 8:30AM – The Snowsquall warning and watch has been ended
Previous coverage
Cold westerly winds off Lake Superior continue to generate snow squalls that are now affecting the Sault Ste. Marie area. The squalls should persist through the night and perhaps into Friday. Nil visibilities and local snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm can be expected by Friday morning.
Snow squall warning in effect for:
- Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably, changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
The skiing at Hiawatha Park is great!
