Snow bands off Lake Superior into Upper Michigan are shifting slowly eastward into the Sault Ste. Marie area. Snow will become locally heavy at times this afternoon and evening then diminish tonight. Further north, toward Montreal River, the heaviest snow is expected this evening and overnight. Local snowfall amounts of 15 cm are expected with these squalls.
Snow squall warning in effect for:
- Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
- Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay
Near zero visibilities in snow and blowing snow can expected at times.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably, changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
Snow Squall Warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
