CASS Slips By Superior Heights

It was a battle between the goaltenders for the Central Algoma Huskies and the Superior Heights Steel Hawks as both teams had equal number of scoring chances, but CASS net minder Merrick Adams would come out the contest with a shut out.

The first and second periods didn’t have any scoring but Superior Heights had an opportunity on the power play with Bryce Campbell sent to the penalty box for tripping at the 6:36 mark of the first period. The Huskies would have their chance to get a power play goal in the second period
when Tanner Raven was handed out a tripping penalty at 7:20. At the 1:37 mark of the second period a goal scored by CASS was waved off as the net moved prior to the puck going in.

Central Algoma would get their only goal of the game, while on the power play, by Greg King on a feed from Nolan Ford and Bryce Campbell at 8:48. Superior Heights came close to putting the puck in the Huskies’ net on a bad pass by Cole MacIntyre but the Steel Hawks couldn’t break the shut out by Adams.

With the win by a score of 1-0 Central Algoma will play in NOSSA AA as the third seed.

My picks for the 3 stars of the game as both goal tenders did an exceptional job are:
1-Merrick Adams (CASS)
2-Quinten Grimm (SH)
3-Greg King (CASS)
