As a result of continued discussions with Algoma Public Health, Algoma District School Board (ADSB) has advised that Johnson-Tarbutt Central Public School and Central Algoma Secondary School (CASS) will be closed on Thursday, February 26. Parents/guardians are asked to find alternative arrangements for their children and school staff will be reporting to alternate ADSB work sites. Busses will be cancelled to both Johnson-Tarbutt and CASS.
The closure is due to the planned water outage over an extended period of time for the Township of Johnson and issues surrounding infection control and sanitary concerns.
ADSB has been notified by the municipality that due to these scheduled repairs on the municipal water system the water will be shut off for approximately 8 hours. Once the repairs are completed and the plant is back up and running there will be a Boil Water Advisory in effect until samples confirm the safety of the water and Algoma Public Health lifts the Advisory. Water coolers will be brought in to both schools during the boil water advisory for drinking water purposes.
Parents/guardians are asked to continue to monitor local media and the Algoma District School Board website (www.adsb.on.ca) for updates and further information following the February 26th school closure.
Algoma District School Board thanks both school communities for your patience and cooperation with this matter.
