First-graders Sally Kasten (l), Christopher LaLonde, and Gabe Litzner, try on the tools of a health professional’s trade during a health fair hosted Feb 4 at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
LSSU nursing baccalaureate (BSN) student Morgan Zeeryp, left, makes adjustments. More than three dozen kids from J.K. Lumsden Bahweting elementary school were guests of LSSU’s BSN and licensed practical nursing programs on for activities that, among many other things, explored the basics of health awareness and reduced the anxiety of dealing with health care professionals. Nursing management and leadership students coordinated tours of animal field displays and a mineral resources museum in LSSU’s Crawford Hall of Science, which also houses nursing laboratories. Zeeryp, a junior from Rudyard, Mich., is earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing and an associate’s in human nutrition.
