Major Penalty leads to Rangers Loss

The penalty box seen a lot of action in the game between the Soo Greyhounds and the Kitchener Rangers with a total of 67 minutes in penalties handed out to both teams.

With DeAngelo in the penalty box for Unsportsmanlike Conduct, Dupuy would get a two minute minor for Slashing 22 seconds later giving the Rangers a 5 on 3 advantage.  The Greyhounds killed off the first penalty but when Dupuy got out of the box he got a nice pass to give him a good scoring chance.

Jared McCann would get the first goal of the game at 18:28 on a feed from Tolchinsky and at the end of the first period the Greyhounds led the Rangers 1-0.

Almost a minute into the second period Liam Maaskant would get a 5 minute major and match penalty for Slewfooting.  With no repreive from getting out of the box on a power play goal the Greyhounds capitalized on the major penalty scoring two goals by DeAngelo and Senyshyn.
 
With a lot of traffic in front of Halverson, Rangers Max Iafrate would get a power play goal making the score 3-1 in favor of the Greyhounds.  Nick Ritchie was hit hard in the Rangers zone and was down on the ice when Ryan Macinnis would score giving the Rangers a one goal deficit.
 
With less than five minutes left in the second period Ritchie would slowly get up and start heading towards the bench but not before starting a fight with Mason Kohn.  Another fight started between DeAngelo and Iafrate just after the brawl between Ritchie and Kohn.  There was a little delay on what the outcome of the penalties would be but after the officials had their discussions Ritchie would get 2/5/10 for Instigating while Kohn got 5.  Iafrate got 2/5/10 and a game misconduct and DeAngelo was handed a 5 minute major.

With a little over five minutes into the third period Jared McCann would score on Paterson, which would be the game winning goal, giving the Greyhounds a 4 to 2 lead over the Rangers.

On a 3 on 2 Michael Bunting added another marker at 9:21, but the Rangers would score on the power play with credit for the goal going to Adam Mascherin making the score 5-3 in favor of the Greyhounds.
 
Paterson would be pulled with just a little over a minute and a half left in the game by Zach Senyshyn would find some room to get a shot and score on the empty net sealing the win for the Greyhounds by a score of 6 to 3 over the Rangers.
 
The Greyhounds will continue their home stand with the next game on Friday 27 Feb when the Windsor Spitfires come to town with a 7:07 pm puck drop and then the London Knights will pay a visit on Sunday 1 Mar with a 3:00 pm start time.
