Let it Snow. Let it Snow! Just in time for the Northern Ontario Divisional Alpine Races. The Searchmont Ski Runners are preparing for Annual Mealey Classic which will take place at Searchmont Ski Resort starting tomorrow, Thursday, Feb 12th through to Sunday, Feb 15th. The Annual Event is named after Brian Mealey who coached the alpine program for over 40 years and continues to be an inspiration to all.
Over 100 Racers from Northern Ontario in the U12, U14, U16, U18 and U20 divisions will brave the best terrain in the province with some challenging and interesting courses. Medals will be awarded to the top (3) finishers (male & female) for each age category.
Searchmont is known to host some of the best races in the province. Partly because of the 750 feet / 228 metres vertical it offers but also because of the incredible team organizing the races and over 60 individuals who volunteer to make it a success.
Searchmont Ski Resort is located a short drive north of Sault Ste. Marie is a premiere ranked, regional training and recreation facility. Make room for the skiers. They will be everywhere this weekend! A Fish Fry Fundraiser is part of the weekend festivities Friday, Feb 13th at 5:30 pm. Special guest appearance: Mac & B.J. Marcoux. A hill torch will follow as well as live entertainment by the Steeltown Playboys. Contact Searchmont Customer Service for ticket information.
