The Steelhawks Team clinch High School Curling League Championship

The team from Superior Heights skipped by Nick Servant with vice Jake Glibota, second Mike Masters and lead James Mesich took one in the first end and stole two in the second  to take an early lead.  White Pines, with skip Brendan Acorn, vice Spencer Clark, second Aaron Soulliere and lead Gavin Bell fought back with two in the third and steals of singles in both the fourth and fifth ends.  Superior Heights took one in the sixth to tie the game and stole another in the seventh.  Coming home up one without hammer, Superior Heights buried one early only leaving the White Pines skip a difficult double-raised take-out.  Acorn’s hit was off the mark and the Servant rink stole the win for a final score of 6-4.
This guarantees Superior Height a berth at NOSSA being held in North Bay later this month.
Play-off action begins Tuesday and will see the first place Team Servant vs. Team Lemieux from St. Mary’s and Team Acorn will take on Korah’s Team McClelland.
