This year’s league champion for the High School Boys Curling League will be decided by a tie-breaker. Both Team Servant from Superior Heights and Team Acorn from White Pines finished league play with identical 11-1 records, Each team’s only loss came at the hands of other team. Team Acorn is skipped by Brendan Acorn with vice Spencer Clark, second Gavin Bell and lead Aaron Soulliere. The Servant rink is skipped by Nick Servant along with vice Jake Glibota, second Michael Masters and lead James Mesich. The tie-breaker will be played on February 9.
In yesterday’s action Team Servant defeated Team Kingston from Korah by a score of 9-1 and Team Acorn defeated Team Lemeiux from St. Marys by a score of 4-1. The closest game on the ice was a heated contest in which Team McClelland from Korah narrowly got past Team Moore from Superior Heights by a score of 6-5.
In the girls’ division, Team Rutledge from Superior Heights is this year’s league champion with a 9-1 record. The team skipped by Katie Rutledge includes vice Lauren Rogers, second Emma McLean and lead Allie Lucente. In second place with a record of 7-3 is Korah’s Team Simbirski with skip Alicia Simbirski, vice Sara Couturier, second Kasis Dubreuil and lead Anik Graves.
Play-off action begins February 10th and will include a double-elimination bracket for both the Boys’ Championship and Boys’ Consolation and a best of three for the Girls’ Championship.
