The second of the best of 5 series final for High School Hockey ended up in disappointment for the St. Basil Saints as they were handed their second loss by the St. Mary’s Knights.  The first two periods seen some good scoring chances with neither team having the upper hand, but the last three minutes of the second period it started to go the wrong way for the Saints.  The third period, on the other hand was a different story, as St. Mary’s came out on fire and the game got really physical with a total of 15 penalties being handed out.
St. Basil would put the first score on the clock at 12:04 with a goal by Dom Gervasi from Colton Reid.  The Saints would add another tally by Johnny Hammond while on the power play.  St. Mary’s would respond with two goals by Austin Rowe and Jason Uhl to tie the game at 2 a piece heading out of the first period.
The Saints would again take the lead on a goal by Josh Fisher but again the Knights would even the score on a power play goal by Andrew Dale at the 6:20 mark of the second period.  The Knights would take control from the 3:00 minute mark with a goal by Jason Uhl, who would get his hat trick goal 31 seconds later to round out the second period scoring with St. Mary’s leading St. Basil by a score of 5 to 3.
The third period seen St. Mary’s get three goals, the first was a power play goal at 13:32 by Dallas Jollineau, the second was a short handed goal by Mitchel Robinson and then the third goal by Cody Slumskie to give the Knights a big win with a score of 8 to 3.
The next High School Hockey action is on Wednesday, 25 Feb with CASS Huskies facing off against Superior Heights Steelhawks for the 3rd seed for NOSSA at 6:30 pm.  Game 3 of the best of 5 series final will continue with puck drop at 8:00 pm.
