SaultOnline received a request from Pauline Pennett to publish the following letter of appreciation:
I am attaching a thank you letter to the community for their overwhelming support of two amazing people – Ian Ganton and Chris Lapointe Ganton. These two have given so much of themselves over the years to the community it was amazing to see the community give back at a benefit to support Chris during her battle with cancer.
We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who had a part in making the Lapointe / Ganton benefit, held March 12th, such a success.
For those who may not be aware, Chris Lapointe Ganton was diagnosed with cancer approximately 1 ½ years ago. To borrow words from her husband Ian “Chris met this challenge head on with determination, strength, stubbornness, patience and understanding. Though she is being faced with some tough challenges she continues to be a source of inspiration and strength to us.” She truly is an amazing individual.
We would like to thank Louise McAuliffe and Val Horsepool for all your help planning, selling tickets, decorating and executing the event and Kathy Fisher for all her support. Thank you to Ken, Kim, Trish and all the staff at the Grand Gardens for going above and beyond. Thanks Tim Murphy for bringing humour to the event and reminding us that laughter truly is the best medicine.
Thank you as well to all who helped with the set up and running of the event. Without your efforts the event would not have been possible, no matter how well planned. Our gratitude also goes out to everyone who contributed to the silent auction. Your generosity was amazing to behold.
A very special thank you, as well, to all who donated their time and talent to entertain us that evening. Your performances brought us to laughter and tears, but most importantly helped us celebrate Chris and Ian.
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us and to everyone who participated in the silent auction. Due to your support we have been able to raise over $10,000.00 to help with medical costs, the recent medical trip to Sunny Brooke Hospital and many other expenses.
On a personal note, we would like to send a special thank you to Ian and Chris for “adopting” us into their family.
If anyone is interested in donating to help these amazing people, please email [email protected].
