What a difference a hockey season can make? After a year of absence during the 2013-2014 with the departure of the Soo North Stars, March 15th, 2015 was a day of glory at the Rhodes for our first year T-Bird Midgets. Heading into game four of GNML finals action with a 2-1 series lead over the Cubs, the T-Birds were only one win away from the Don Shepherdson Trophy.

The T-Birds edged the New Liskeard Cubs 5-4 and clinched their first GNML championship in their first season.

Great North Midget League defenseman of the year Matt Murray led the way offensively with two assists while single helpers went to Jakob Porco, Jason Bednarski, Gage Stephney and Noah Serre. Goals went to Max Khull, Zach Senecal, Jared Fanti, Lucas Millar and Brendan Gillis.

Justin Brazeau led the way for the Cubs with two goals, while Cade Herd, Jake Leveille and Gabe Rheault had a pair of assists each. Calvin Chartrand had a goal and an assist while Cayse Ton had one goal.

Joey Roberts was in goal for the Soo’s win.
