Greyhounds Clinch Western Conference Title

With a convincing win over the Plymouth Whalers the Soo Greyhounds  clinched the first place finish in the Western Conference.

Tolchinsky would put the Greyhounds on the scoreboard just before the half way point in the first period.  With Nurse in the penalty box for hooking the Whalers would tie the game on a power play goal by Milano.

Just before the close of the first period Senyshyn would put the Greyhounds back into the lead at the 17:19 mark and at the end of the first period the score was Greyhounds-2, Whalers-1.  Shots on goal by the Greyhounds were 14 to the Whalers 8.

In the second period the lone goal would come from Michael Bunting on a feed from Sergey Tolchinsky as Tolchinsky was down on his knees.

Colton White would get his fifth goal of the season to add to the Greyhounds lead by a score of 4 to 1.

Nick Ritchie added one more to the Soo’s tally on a power play goal at 9:40 and at the end of the game the Greyhounds took down the Whalers by a score of 5 to 1.  Total shots on goal were Greyhounds – 38, Whalers – 22.
 
Next action for the Greyhounds is Saturday when the Sarnia Sting pay a visit to the Essar Centre with a puck drop time of 7:07
