Sault Ste. Marie Down Syndrome Society is proud to announce that we will be participating in the 10th World Down Syndrome Day on Saturday March 21, 2015 by conducting “Random Acts of Kindness” and inviting you to do the same throughout our community.

We will be joining a host of other DS organizations across the country/world to hold a Random Act of Kindness (RAK) campaign to promote awareness of persons with Down syndrome. We are asking you to spread this campaign far and wide. We’re asking that you complete 1 – 3 RAK’s beginning now and prior to 3.21.15, take a picture, and post those pictures or tell your RAK here on our Facebook page.

Print or draw a “Random Act of Kindness” Card and go do something nice for someone-then hand them or leave this card for them to see:

WDSD 3-21 Random Acts of Kindness

Beth Sullivan, Chairman of the International Down Syndrome Coalition stated “One fun part will be involving loved ones with Down syndrome in the decisions and enactment of the acts of kindness. While it’s certainly a false stereotype that people with Down syndrome are happy all the time, I think it’s fair to say that many with Down syndrome have kind and giving spirits. In my experience, spreading love and kindness comes naturally to many with Down syndrome”

World Down Syndrome Day is being celebrated around the world in many ways from “Painting Nails Blue” campaigns, to Art Shows and conferences. Some choose to celebrate wearing crazy socks, provide financial assistance to local chapters and others simply promote “See the Ability”

However you choose we are grateful and appreciative of the fact that you recognize worth, value our loved ones and “See the Ability”.

Happy World Down Syndrome Day!
