Impaired Charges In Highway Collision


On March 20, 2015 at 8:25 p.m. officers from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a collision on Highway 17 near Duff Rd in Plummer Additional Township.

When officers arrived they learned a disabled westbound motor vehicle was on the side of the road being assisted by motorists from another vehicle. An eastbound pickup truck crossed the road and struck the stationary vehicles. The collision caused various amounts of damage to the vehicles involved and the people involved suffered minor injuries.

Through their investigation officers arrested the driver of the pickup truck. Laura MISENER, 45 years of age from St. Joseph Township has been charged with impaired operation contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and being over 80 mgs contrary to section 253 (1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Blind River Provincial Court on May 7, 2015 to answer to the charges
