The St. Mary’s Knights lost their first game in three games suffering a shut out win by Appleby College Blue Dogs 4 to 0 in Boys Hockey OFSAA A/AA.
In the first game of the round robin, on Tuesday, the Knights took down the Patrick Fogarty Flames by a score of 4 to 1. Jason Uhl would get the opening goal of the game at 1:21 assisted by Michael Fabbro and Noah Sartoretto. Austin Rowe would score the Knights second goal of the game assisted by Dallas Jollineau and Mitchel Robinson which was the eventual game winner at 3:42.
Just before the end of the first period Mitchel Robinson would add to St. Mary’s lead on a feed from Austin Rowe and Dallas Jollineau.
The Patrick Fogarty Flames would nix the shut out by Bradley Caruso on a goal by Nicolas Frolich assisted by Taylor Fisher and Zane Morris at the 8:57 mark of the second period.
Jason Uhl would get his second goal of the game at 12:49 of the third period assisted by Noah Sartoretto and Dallas Jollineau.
On Wednesday the Knights had two games to play with the first being against the St. Joseph Jaguars.
Jason Uhl would again get the opening goal of the game at the 2:15 mark of the first period from Connor Boudreau and Austin Rowe. Daniel Cicchini would get assisted by Dallas Jollineau and Austin Rowe on a power play goal at 4:20 and at the end of the first period the Knights led the Jaguars 2 to 0.
Nicholas Brunetta would score the lone goal in the second period at 12:39 to add to the Knights lead.
The third period seen Jason Uhl score on the power play at 0:20 and Tyson Davies would score at 3:35 while on the power play assisted by Austin Rowe and Bradley Caruso. Erik Paradis would get the sixth goal of the game at 10:53 and the final score at the end was Knights 6, Jaguars 0. Bradley Caruso was credited with the shut out.
The last game of the round robin playoffs pitted Appleby College Blue Dogs against the St. Mary’s Knights.
The Knights would fail to score on the Blue Dogs net minder Avery Gobbo handing the Knights their first loss. Appleby College’s Callum Jones would get two goals of the game, one in the second period at 10:55 and the second in the third period at 10:27. Morgan Macdonald would add the other two goals for the Blue Dogs in the third period at the 11:51 mark and the second goal 27 seconds later at 12:18.
The standings in Pool C have Appleby College Blue Dogs with a 3 and 0 record, St. Mary’s Knights 2 and 1, Patrick Fogarty Flames 1 and 2 and finally St. Joseph Jaguars 0 and 3.
In the quarter finals the schedule has 1st in Pool D Fort Frances Muskies vs 2nd in Pool C Patrick Fogarty Flames where it should be the St. Mary’s Knights instead of the Patrick Fogarty Flames.
