Finally at peace, Maria passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015, International Women’s Day.
A great woman whose love, strength and wisdom will be forever instilled in our hearts. “Ma” left us in body but not in spirit.
She leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Rosario Sicoli. A loving and giving mother and mentor for Rosetta, David, Mauro, James, Franca and Aldo. She will be sadly missed and remembered by many relatives in Italy, United States and Venezuela. “Ma” was a special aunt to many of her nieces and nephews. She knew how to transcend the distance with love and affection.
Our dearest mother has gone to be reunited with the love of her life, Lucia. “Ma” tried to find peace with the loss of her beloved granddaughter but a broken heart was too heavy a burden for her. Her reunion with Lucia and her special angels is our comfort at this time of loss. “Ma” adopted a city with her passion for cooking and personal aim to feed all, and a city adopted her as their own. She leaves behind a legacy of feeding the soul as well as the body. She was a wise woman with a shoulder for all to lean on. She taught by example. Give and they shall receive, love and you will be loved, be strong to help others but foremost be proud of who you are. We her children are and always will be honoured that Maria was our mother, but we are humbled by the numerous wonderful people that called her “Ma”. Forever loved and forever treasured. Ciao cara mama.
