Unlawful Shooting of Elk in Iron Bridge Area

Crime Stoppers and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are seeking the public’s assistance concerning the recent act of an unlawful shooting and wastage of a bull elk in the Iron Bridge area.

Sometime between Saturday February 21, 2015 and Wednesday March 4, 2015 a bull elk was shot and left to spoil where it died in an open field. There were no efforts made to retrieve the animal. This occurred in W.M.U. 37, north of Iron Bridge on Chiblow Lake Road in Patton Township.

The Lake Huron North Shore elk population has been experiencing a serious decline over the past two years, and the senseless loss of this mature bull has reduced the population even further.
