Marking the one year anniversary of a very dark day for 270 young girls kidnapped from the school they attended in Nigeria, #BringBackOurGirls global campaign is gathering people to march together.
Locally, citizens are invited to wear red, and march along The St. Mary’s River Boardwalk, starting at The Civic Centre, marching along the waterfront to Mill Square. #BringBackOurGirls march will commence at 6:00 pm.
It is a terrorist act so grievous, it assaults the mind to even think about it. 270 young school girls, yanked and kidnapped from their beds in the middle of the night by Boko Haram in Nigeria, April 14th,2014. Imagining the terror is almost too much to bear. As we consider the lives and the dreams that these young girls would have held for themselves, a call to action, however far away, is a way to demonstrate a measure of intentional solidarity. Solidarity in spirit with the over 200 school girls, with their families and friends, all marching in a Global movement #BringBackOurGirls.
Marches are planned on a Global Scale for April 14th,2015. A sea of red, moving together, hoping that there will be a day when these children will be reunited with their families, with their communities.
