A Lake Superior State University Sports and Events Marketing class gets some help from Neville’s Superette butcher Ian McGill in rounding up what eventually will be 40-plus racks of ribs for a barbecue competition the students are organizing. Helping McGill are coordinators Alexa Wurth (left) and Britney Clement.
The Sault Ste. Marie Rib-Fest will see 12 teams will go head-to-head with creative recipes noon-5 p.m. at the Sault, Mich., American Legion Post on April 11. Post Three is located next to the Coast Guard base on the St. Mary’s river. A $10 per person admission plus 50-50 raffle will help the Wounded Warrior Project. The afternoon features live music by the local band, Retro Troop. Other upcoming events-marketing class benefit projects include a Just Wing It! eating contest at Buffalo Wild Wings on April 15, and a Swishes for Wishes three-on-three basketball tourney in LSSU’s Norris Center on April 18. Combine each event’s name with “LSSU” to follow them on Facebook for updates.
