City Police Blotter for Thursday Afternoon

On April 30, 2015 at 8am 20 year old Jacques Fortier of Morin Street was arrested at a local retail store for shoplifting. The accused walked around the store acquiring $45 in food items, concealed the items and left the store without paying. The accused was apprehended by store security and police were contacted. Fortier has been charged with theft under $5000 and will appear in court on June 1st.

On April 30, 2015 Sault Ste Marie Police responded to a family disturbance in the city’s west end. A 14 year old male was being assaultive toward his mother. The male threw a cordless phone handset at his mother in an attempt to assault her. The accused was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and breach of probation. He will appear in bail court on April 30th.

On April 30, 2015 at 11am 52 year old Daniel Collis of Goulais River was arrested at a local retail store for price switching. The accused took a $5 price tag and put it on an item valued at $60.  The accused than proceeded through checkout paying only $5 and was than apprehended by store security and police were contacted. Collis was charged with fraud under $5000 and will appear June 1st.
