Craig Needs To Be Heard


Gordon Lightfoot, Canada’s iconic troubadour said “[Craig Cardiff is] a songwriter who needs to be heard.” Craig Cardiff Singer & Songwriter, will be performing in Sault Ste. Marie at Cafe Natura Saturday, April 4th, with two scheduled performances at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

craig-cardiff-1Craig’s shows build landscapes of sound using live digital loops, and at times he will bring the venue he is performing in to a quiet hush. Folks who attend the Cafe Natura performances in The Sault can expect Influences of folk and blues in Craig’s music.

With guitar in hand, Craig can turn any setting into an intimate affair, infusing his music and lyrics with a uncompromising humanism that is rarely seen in today’s production heavy climate.
Craig makes it a point to keep the relationship with his fans personal, inviting opportunities to bring his audience into the story of the music he is performing.

Songs written as part of an extensive catalogue of songs, include ideas Craig has gleaned from audience members sharing stories in The ‘Book of Truth’. The ‘Book of Truth’ is circulated during performances, encouraging audience members to share a personal thought or two. Cardiff is considered a pioneer in alternate venue touring,performing in churches, camps, prisons, basements, festivals, and kitchens.

Craig was nominated for two Juno Awards in 2012, Roots and Traditional Album of the Year (Solo) for album ‘Floods and Fires, as well as Contemporary Singer of the Year, Canadian Folk Music Award. Craig has 16 albums to his credit, expressing a vast repertoire of songs and songwriting styles.

Over the years, Craig has played with and opened for artists such as Glen Phillips, Lucy Kaplansky, Dan Bern, Natalia Zukerman, Andy Stochansky, Sarah Harmer, Kathleen Edwards, Blue Rodeo, Gordon Downie (Tragically Hip), Hawksley Workman, Sarah Slean, Skydiggers, 54-40 and more. His 2015 tour will include performances in Norway in July.

When not performing, Craig Cardiff has developed music workshops for schools, camps, festivals and churches. His workshops have been attended by folks from all over North America. Craig is from Waterloo,Ontario and resides in Arnprior,Ontario. As a professional musician Craig is managed and supported by ‘Partick Artists’ in Ottawa,Ontario.

From Sault Ste. Marie, Craig will travel to Thunder Bay where performances are scheduled at The Finlandia Club. or
