LSSU dance students to present Cirque du Sooleil

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State University dance students will present “Cirque du SOOleil,” the group’s annual spring dance performance, on April 17-18 at the LSSU Arts Center. The public is welcome.
Midway attractions begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Arts Center lobby with free games, prizes and entertainment for all, and then acrobats, dancers, clowns and more will take over the auditorium stage at 7:30 p.m. The first 25 children will receive free activity books. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Prices are $7 for adults, $5 for students with ID, and $3 for children 12-under.
“The theme of the program, ‘Mind’s Eye,’ is open to audience interpretation as mini-stories expressed through movement and dance fill the stage,” said program director Deborah Choszczyk. “’My goal was to bring fantasy, mystery and fun to our stage, expressed through the talents of our students and inspired by the Cirque.”
Choszczyk said this semester all LSSU dance classes will perform in the spring program, including Ballet, Movement for Actors, Social Dance, and Dance Production classes. In addition, LSSU students auditioned to present their unique acts on stage, bringing the total number of performers to 55 students.
This production is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to become familiar with the fine arts at LSSU by enjoying an evening of dance, music, theatre and circus acts, all performed by LSSU students,” Choszczyk said.
