Ritchie Leads Greyhounds to Win

Nick Ritchie counted for three goals and an assist helping the Greyhounds to a convincing 9 to 3 win over the Guelph Storm in game number two of the Western Conference Semi Finals.

Guelph would get the first goal of the game by Tyler Bertuzzi giving Guelph a 1 to 0 lead. Nick Ritchie would even the score on a power play goal and Justin Bailey would give the Soo the lead just under two minutes later.

Guelph made a goaltender change putting Van Schubert into the net after Nichols let in two goals on 10 shots. Van Schubert would allow the Greyhounds to score three more times on 8 shots before the end of the first period with goals by Sergey Tolchinsky, Jean Dupuy and Nick Ritchie.

Jean Dupuy would get credit for the first goal of the second period to give the Greyhounds a commanding 6 to 1 lead. At the 8:32 mark Luke Burghardt was handed a five minute major and a game misconduct on a boarding call with the hit being on Blake Speers who would continue to play for the remainder of the game.

Guelph’s Marchese would get two short handed goals during the five minute major but Gustav Bouramman would add another marker for the Greyhounds. Zach Senyshyn gave the Greyhounds an 8 to 3 lead at the 6 minute mark and Nick Ritchie got his hat trick goal just under four and a half minutes later and at the end of the second period the score was 9 – 3 for the Greyhounds.

Raaymakers replaced Halverson for the third period and with no scoring the Greyhounds took game 2 and will head to Guelph leading the series 2 to 0
