Heading into this morning’s action with an 0-1-1 record after tying the Don Mills Flyers yesterday afternoon, the Soo Thunderbird midgets faced off against the Ottawa Senators who entered today with an 0-2 record.
The Soo dropped a 5-3 decision to them this morning which now drops their record to 0-2-1 while the Senators picked up their first “W” of the tournament.
Lucas Millar led the way for the Birds with a goal and a helper while Jason Bednarski and Brad Thrower (powerplay) each scored once. Zach Taylor, Max Khull and Nolan Makkonen all registered single assists.
Troy MacTavish led the way for the Senators with a pair of goals and an assist while Colin Baggio also had a three point morning with a goal and two helpers. Single goals went to James Watt and Mason Farnes on the powerplay. Nick Dunnion had a trio of helpers while single assists went to Bobby Dow, Carter Hertner and Jerry Cole.
Joey Roberts was in goal for the loss.
Action continues tomorrow from the Westwood Arena at 5:30 when the T-Birds take on the Whitby Wildcats.
