T-Birds Fall In Game 1

Saturday night the Soo Thunderbirds began game 1 of the NOJHL finals at the Essar Centre and with a playoff record of 8-1, the club was hoping to draw first blood. The T-Birds fell 6-2  to the Cochrane Crunch but outshot them 51-33.

Brett Jeffries and Boris Katchouk had the goals for the Soo, while assists went to Anthony Miller, Owen Headrick, David Radke and Connor Dea. Dustin Cordeiro led the way with a hat trick including two power play goals and an assist while single goals went to Daniel Stagg, Henry Berger (short handed) and Cody Gratton (short handed). Single assists went to Joseph Marvin, Max Glashauser, Josh Racek, Jason Berube and Daniel Sakatch.

Brian Kment was replaced by Mario Culina after giving up four goals on nineteen shots.

Game 2 goes Sunday at 7:30 from the Essar Centre.
