Ernie and Wilna had many friends in the area, were fun loving and avid campers, and loved the outdoors, dancing and family gatherings. Ernie was born and raised in Ophir and moved to Rydal Bank on the passing of his mother and father at an early age. With his new wife and family moved to Bruce Mines in 1959 and to Sault Ste. Marie in 1970. He was a self-reliant man who had an innate curiosity concerning why things worked and how they worked and this versatility served him well in his many jobs and hobbies throughout his life. With his brother Harold he began a lifelong hobby and became a craftsman in the art of snow shoe making. His love for hunting and fishing with his brothers and sons will always be remembered as will his work and love of nature and his beloved “Wing Mountain” property. Ernie was dedicated to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and has passed on to them his love of the outdoors, making things and enjoying the simple things of life: a greater blessing we could not have had.
