And Then There Were Eight

The third place White Pines Wolverines started their game with only seven players out of the allowed 10 players for the first five minutes of the Junior Boys High School Soccer semi final game against the second place Korah Colts.
One more player for the Wolverines showed up giving White Pines a total of eight players for the game.

Despite playing two men short for the game White Pines held off the attack from the Colts during the first half of the match the Wolverines only allowed one goal to be scored and at the end of the first half Korah led White Pines 1 to 0.

It seemed that the Wolverines ran out of steam during the second 40 minutes half as the Colts scored a total of five goals to give them a commanding win over the Wolverines 6 to 0. The Colts will advance to the final Junior Boys match at 9:00 am on Sunday.

In the second game of the night had first place St. Mary’s Knights hit the field against fourth place Superior Heights Steel Hawks.

Both teams had equal number of scoring chances in the first 40 minutes but St. Mary’s was awarded a penalty kick in the latter part of the first half. The original kick was stopped by the goal keeper but gave up a huge rebound which allowed the Knights to score and lead by one at the end of the half.

The second half only seen one goal by St. Mary’s despite valiant efforts by Superior Heights to close the gap and at the end of the game had the St. Mary’s Knights defeat the Superior Heights Steel Hawks 2 to 0. The Knights will go up against the Colts for the Junior Boys final on Sunday.
