Demeo Commits to Greyhounds

Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis is pleased to announce today the commitment from 2015 draft pick ANTHONY DEMEO.

The Port Washington, NY product was the Greyhounds 2nd pick (3rd Round, 61st overall) in this past April’s OHL Priority Selection.

“Like many elite players at his age, Anthony had a lot of options in terms of what his next steps would be in his academic and hockey career. We are thrilled a player such as Anthony is committing to our program.” began Hounds General Manager Kyle Raftis.

“With his ability to push the pace from the blue line with his skating, combined with his size, we are very excited to be part of Anthony’s future hockey and academic successes” continued Raftis.

The 6.00, 188-lb defenseman played one season ago with the New Jersey Rockets Minor Midget hockey club.  In 25 games played he tallied 1 goals and 15 assists (16 points).

Demeo was a participant in the USA NDTP U17 (National Develop Training Program) this past March before taking part in the OHL Gold Cup as part of the Elite Hockey Group team.

“I am extremely excited because I was fortunate enough to get drafted to the team that was number one on my list of teams I wanted to go to, and that made the decision to commit so easy.  I can’t wait to get to Sault Ste. Marie and become part of the community and the Greyhounds” said Anthony.
Demeo, who visited Sault Ste. Marie along with other draft picks in April, will be in Sault Ste. Marie at the end of August for Training Camp 2015.
