The start of the High School Soccer City finals began with the Junior Boys which involved the St. Mary’s Knights and the Korah Colts.  The Knights would get the first goal of the game in the first half.  Despite a couple of good scoring chances by the Colts, the Knights continued the pressure in the second half and scored one more goal to blank Korah by a score of 2 to 0.  St. Mary’s would be named the city champs for 2015.

Past City Champions for the Junior Boys were Superior Heights – 2014 and St. Mary’s 2012 and 2013.  There were no schools listed on the trophy between 2003 and 2012.

The second game had the Junior Girls from St. Mary’s go up against Superior Heights.  Scoring chances were pretty even during the first half with no goals for either team.  The Knights came out for the second half and turned up the heat on the reigning Junior Girls City champs from 2014 by scoring three quick goals in the span of about five minutes to shut out the Steel Hawks 3 to 0.

Past City Champions for the Junior Girls were Superior Heights – 2014, St. Mary’s – 2013, Korah – 2011 & 2012 and St. Basil – 2010.

Being the City champs for the Senior Girls for the past three years, 2012 to 2014, the Superior Heights Steel Hawks knew that it was not going to be an easy task to dethrone the St. Mary’s Knights.  St. Mary’s would end up scoring all the goals needed to win the game in the first half to defeat the Steel Hawks 4 – 0.

Past Senior Girls City Champions were St. Mary’s – 2012 to 2014 and St. Basil – 2010 and 2011.

With both Senior Boys teams requiring a shoot out in the semi finals, this was the end result of the game with neither team scoring in the first or second halves of the game.  There were an equal number of scoring chances for both sides but just couldn’t get a go ahead goal.  With the shoot out in full swing, the first five of the required shooters each scored.  On the sixth shooter, St. Basil would hit the goal post and with Superior Heights scoring to give the Steel Hawks their first Senior Boys City Championship.

Past City Champions for the Senior Boys were St. Mary’s – 2013 & 2014, St. Basil – 2011 & 2012 and St. Mary’s 2009 & 2010.
