Seniors Calling. The VanDaele Volunteers

The Grand Gardens Banquet Hall, downtown Dennis St. location, hosted the Annual Extendicare Van Daele (39 Van Daele St.) Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Tuesday, May 12th, 2015.

VolunteeringimageThere were well over 100 folks in attendance, each enjoying a marvelous dinner out, courtesy of the Recreation and Administrative staff from Van Daele Longterm Care facility, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The theme for the evening was ‘Volunteers, A Work of Heart’. All of the assembled were warmly thanked and very well fed. Volunteers were further gifted with a springtime candle-in-a-tin, and certificate to mark the occasion. The volunteers certainly seemed to appreciate the night out.

Volunteers play an important role in supporting the mind, body and spirit of residents in longterm care facilities right across this country. Locally, Extendicare Van Daele continues to honour volunteer musicians, bands, drivers, faith based groups, party-planners, popcorn-makers, meal-time supporters, ice-cream scoopers, choirs, pastors and chaplains, hymn singers, arts and crafters, storytellers, listening ears and more.

Congratulations to all of the Van Daele Volunteers who continue to enrich the lives of our community elders living in longterm care. A special shout-out to the Recreation & Programme Staff, at Van Daele, including Shellie Cavaliere and Lisa Porco Planting, who made the Appreciation Night such a tremendous success. Way to Go.
