Statistics Canada to survey residents

Statistics Canada will be conducting telephone surveys on behalf of Algoma Public Health from May 25th to May 29th, 2015. Statistics Canada interviewers will telephone approximately 2,000 randomly selected households in Sault Ste. Marie.

The survey will collect information on a variety of health-related topics. These include daily dental care practices, access to, and use of, dental services, food preparation practices within the household and whether households are meeting their food needs. In addition, questions will look at household’s use of the Internet and social media to access health information, specifically information on programs and services provided on the Algoma Public Health website.

The information collected from the survey will be used by Algoma Public Health to better understand the health needs of Sault Ste. Marie residents.

The survey is conducted under the authority of the Statistics Act, which ensures the confidentiality of all information collected. No individual responses or identifiable information will be shared with Algoma Public Health.

While participation in the survey is voluntary, it is important that all selected participants take part to ensure the information accurately reflects the views of residents in the community.

Interviewers will identify themselves as being employees of Statistics Canada upon calling. Respondents can also contact the number below to verify that Statistics Canada is conducting this survey.
