Essar Steel Algoma announced today this year’s
recipients for the prestigious Scholarship of Excellence Program. Congratulations to local
students Melissa Reed (Korah Collegiate) and Molly Campbell (Central Algoma Secondary

The Essar Steel Algoma Scholarship of Excellence program was launched in 2010 and
since then, has helped 18 local students in the pursuit of their scholarly endeavors by
offsetting the tuition burden. The program strives to give local students an academically and
personally rewarding growth opportunity. A high bar is set for those who apply for the
program, with recipients having to not only achieve academic excellence but show a
promising degree of demonstrated leadership, volunteerism and citizenship. Two distinct
scholarships are offered under the program. The Scholarship of Distinction targets university
bound students while the Scholarship of Merit is aimed at students who elect the college
route. Both are renewable for an identified course of study. First consideration is given to

Essar Steel Algoma is proud of Melissa and Molly’s personal and academic achievements
and wishes them the best of luck as they embark on this new and exciting chapter of their
