Are you a young person who is passionate about making Sault Ste. Marie a better place? If so, consider applying for the first-ever Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC). The application form is available online at saultstemarie.ca/myac.
To serve on the council, youths must be between the ages of 14 and 21 and reside in the City of Sault Ste. Marie. Youths under the age of 18 will need the consent of a parent or guardian to apply.
Says Christian Provenzano, Mayor of Sault Ste. Marie, “I’m excited that we will be launching the MYAC this fall. I’m looking forward to working with the council members to address important youth issues in the community. ”
The MYAC term will run from September until June. Youths interested in applying should expect a time commitment of between eight to 13 hours per month if they are selected for the council. For high school students, time spent on council activities can be used towards community service hours that are required to graduate.
The deadline to apply is July 31. For more information, visit saultstemarie.ca/myac or phone
